During a recent shift in Leeds, our officer Talha Ghous found himself facing a challenging and high-pressure situation: the site serves a community with complex needs and, on this particular day, a visitor arrived in an extremely distressed and agitated state.

When the situation escalated, with the person producing a razor blade and intending to cause themselves harm, Talha stepped in:
 

• Swift action: Talha managed to calmly, carefully and effectively disarm the individual, taking the implement away before any injuries could occur.
• Ensuring safety: his skilful intervention protected not only the visitor but also himself and others.
• Professional follow-through: once the immediate danger was managed, Talha ensured the relevant emergency services were called to provide the appropriatecare for the visitor.
